My usual response is something like, “Co-Active® Coaching is a powerful alliance designed to forward and enhance the lifelong process of human learning, effectiveness and fulfillment.”  I found that on CTI’s website; I didn’t think it up myself. 

After giving that explanation, the next, usually unspoken, question is “But what is it you actually do.”  I can tell by the puzzled look on the questioner’s face. 

That’s where it gets difficult.  I’m not being evasive.  Co-Active® coaching has to be experienced to be understood.  That is why most Co-Active® coaches give free sample sessions.  That only scratches the surface of Co-Active® coaching however. 

One of the leaders for the Process Class we recently took told me that she had her husband take Fundamentals so he would better understand what was really going on.

Process is about learning to give clients back the means to experience their whole life in every moment.  Of course, we had to begin experiencing it ourselves to coach it in the future.

Often, we don’t realize how much time we spend thinking about the future (worry?) or thinking about the past (regret?).  One of our leaders said, “Worry is planned failure.”  That is rich.  I would like to give the leader credit, but it might be a breach of confidentiality.  I’ll check  Stay tuned… 

Also, we need to get at least 5 paying “coachees,” to start the Certification process.  The Certification process itself takes a minimum of 6 months.  After successful completion of the Certification process, we can use the CPCC designation after our names.

A frequent question students asked the instructors was, “So, how much do you charge for coaching?”  It varied of course.  But, most of them are charging around $500 per month for 3 or 4 30-minute calls a month! 

We also approached some of the assistants who help out and are in certification themselves.  Most said they were charging $150 per month, intending to raise their rates substantially when they get their certification. 

Naturally, Co-Active® Coaching includes this aspect of coaching, but it is not limited to this.  We learned and practiced many techniques to help people discover, or refine, their life purpose and the important values they hold dear.  Again, it is amazing to me how effectively quick these techniques are. 

The first class is called Fundamentals.  Foundations introduced me to many unfamiliar concepts.  I was a bit overwhelmed and needed to practice by doing a few free coaching sessions.  When doing those, I was so nervous.nbsp; I thought the “coachee” was probably not getting anything out of this.  However, one of my test coachees claimed that I really helped her.
